ULTRA VANITIES - BEJEWELLED BOXES FROM THE AGE OF GLAMOUR

Friday May 31 until Saturday July 20, 2013

Admission Free - open 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sunday)

This exhibition celebrates a unique, private collection and provides a window on a glamorous world of luxury that is evocative of the Great Gatsby. More than 300 pieces dating from the 1920s through to the 1970s will be on display including examples by leading jewellery houses such as Cartier, Boucheron,Van Cleef & Arpels, and Chaumet. Aside from being stunning objets d’art, made from precious materials, the boxes are also miracles of miniature engineering and reflect the social and design history of the times.

The associated book “Ultra Vanities – Minaudières, Nécessaires and Compacts” written by Meredith Etherington-Smith will be on sale during the exhibition priced at £39.50
