Black Jewellers Survey Event Write Up

On 3 December 2020, Rachael Taylor of The Jewellery Cut interviewed guest panellists Professor Sarita Malik, Rickardo Antonio and Roxanne Simone, to discuss Black representation in the UK jewellery industry and the findings of the UK's first national Survey of Black Jewellers.

The event was hosted by jeweller and survey author Kassandra Lauren Gordon, in collaboration with the Goldsmiths' Company and Goldsmiths' Centre.

Several topics were discussed and debated, including the need to acknowledge racism in the industry, the isolation that can be felt coming into the profession because of an 'exclusionary' culture, and the opportunities for the jewellery industry to lead change in the craft sector.

Kassandra and the Goldsmiths' Company are pleased to share a write-up of the event with everyone who attended. It can be both viewed and downloaded below.
